At least once a day, we will have someone walk into our store and tell us that their iPhone won’t charge anymore. We will take it from them, try one of our chargers, and discover that the cable won’t “click” in all the way, like it should. The customer often explains that it has been more and more difficult getting the iPhone to accept the charge. They need to reposition the cable in a certain manner, stand it up on end, or continually finagle (love that word, fi-na-gle) the cable until the iPhone recognizes it. That continual frustration comes to a boiling point, thus the reason they are now in our store….sound familiar?
9 times out of 10, we look in the port and there is some pocket lint or gunk that is lodged in the port that just needs to be removed. Our highly trained staff with their ninja expert skills will take their trusty, extra-fine needle point pliers and dig out that lint! After a bit of digging, a little lint comes out, then a big glob of fuzz compacted so hard that it makes a thud on the wood table when it falls out. After we get that all out, we cleanse the entire port with a firm bristle tooth brush and some denatured alcohol. We test the cable again and voila! The firm click we’ve all been longing for! The charge port works yet again!
We hand back the iPhone to our customer who sheepishly wishes that they would have thought of that 3 weeks ago. So, If you’re not sure if this is the problem with your iPhone, bring it in, have a cup of coffee while you wait, and we can check it out. If it is, we will fix it for FREE. Yep, it’s a FREE fix at Oops Repair, no charge for that mad-skill knowledge and 2-minutes of hard labor.
However, if there is damage to your charge port, and it isn’t because of pocket lint…we can fix that too. Charging port parts are in stock for all iPhone models from the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 7-plus. Pricing is clearly posted on our website.
